The photo above is a youth acquisition:
DJ SETUP 1997–1998: A setup funded by the labor office and passion
In the late 90s in Helsinki and Nokia, DJ culture was experiencing a strong transformation, and this set represented the absolute forefront of that time, where analog vinyl met the rising digital technology.
Equipment: Stanton Scratch Master
A sound box trimmed from unemployment benefits ensured that when not mixing smoothly, the needle stayed in the groove even in the most intense moments.
Showpiece: Vestax PDX-d3
This was the crown jewel of the set, brought directly to the country by Mind Records. It was not just a player, but an instrument equipped with a digital display and joystick pitch. It represented a new school: more precise, stronger, and more futuristic than anything else.
Stable cornerstone: Technics SL-1210 MK II
A used classic acquired through the Yellow Bull. The summer job money from the city of Nokia (3000 mk) was exchanged for this black tank for 2000 marks, leaving room for other acquisitions. It was the perfect pair for Vestax.
Golden fine-tuning: Ortofon Concorde Nightclub (previously perhaps “Concorde” models)
An inheritance from the sale of grandpa’s Merita B shares turned into the best possible sound quality. Elliptical grinding meant that the needle dug out every detail from the record grooves that the Chicago House sound demanded.
Mixing table: Vestax 3-channel “Rotary Custom”
This was likely a Vestax PMC-27 or PMC-15, modified with rare rotary faders. These rotatable knobs transformed straightforward scratch style into smooth, long, and musical House mixes, where tracks blended into each other for minutes.
Digital revolution: Pioneer CDJ-500 MKIII
Acquired with savings from labor market support, this “Pro DJ” CD player was the standard of its time, bringing the feel of vinyl to CDs thanks to a large jog dial.

“Here is a video sample where I vibe-code with Copilot AI while recording the screen. At the same time, I am doing a time calculation with my Timesheet for Jira application. The video also features snippets of my track Neil LeVang – Ghost Riders In The Sky (MARK HAMILTON Cover).
Covers can be freely uploaded to YouTube, and at the end of the video, there is also a dark humor comedy skit I made with Google Flow AI.”
“Neil LeVang – Ghost Riders In The Sky (MARK HAMILTON Cover).
Cover versions can be freely uploaded to YouTube, but publishing to mp3 stores and streaming services is a different legal matter.
When you publish a cover on YouTube, the platform often handles copyright issues automatically (the Content ID system recognizes the original work and directs any potential revenue to the rights holders).
However, when you distribute the song to services like Spotify, Apple Music, or Beatport, you must have permission to use the composition – that is, a so-called mechanical license (cover license).”
